Chud has provided air conditioning, heating, water heater, air quality and duct cleaning services to the residents of Jenkintown, PA and the surrounding areas since 1970! We're committed to providing first class air conditioning service to all of our clients.
The heating and air conditioning portions of your HVAC system should be maintained once a year, according to most HVAC system manufacturers. They do recommend that these two halves be completed at different times. You should get the air conditioner serviced in the spring and the heater serviced in the fall.
Air conditioner repair rates vary depending on what needs the repairs. For example, a coolant leak can cost anywhere from $200 to $1,000 to remediate, while an AC compressor replacement might cost anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000. The typical cost of AC repair is $150 to $450, with most people paying $319 on air conditioning repair.
The cost of installing a central air conditioner varies between $3,200 and $7,800. The square footage of your home, the brand you choose and the SEER rating you pick are the key elements that will determine the cost of your AC unit. A 2.5 ton AC unit is needed for a 1,300 to 1,600 square foot home, and the typical installation cost is roughly $3,570.
We're the AC experts. But don't take our word for it. Check out our reviews and find out why your neighbors consider us to be their nearby Jenkintown, PA heating and air company that specializes in air quality and duct cleaning.

Installed air handler and heat pump. Added new wireless thermostat. Converted outdoor condenser to a heat pump. Added new electric disconnect box and high voltage AC whip from disconnect box to heat pump. Added 10 kw heat pack to air handler, new over flow pan with safety switch and new drain trap for condensate. Flushed line set with R 11 acid flush. Flushed drain line and water tested from evaporator coil. The air handler and condenser were both tied into the same circuit breaker and wire coming from the panel to the air handler is under sized. Electrician was out to quote running a larger wire from panel to air handler in attic and have it on its own dedicated breaker. Electrician will also be running an 18/8 low voltage communication wire from air handler to outdoor heat pump. Electrician will let us know when job is complete so we can finish the electrical and do a proper start up. Filter size 12x20x1 We will collect balance once job is finished.

Came out today to survey a home to install two humidifiers. Upon arrival I met with Charles and he explained what he is looking for. The homeowner has a boiler system for the main house and a high efficiency Payne furnace in a crawl space under the addition. The homeowner stated that his bedroom gets very dry and he currently has a stand alone humidifier in the room. I explained to the homeowner how a steam humidifier would be set up in his bedroom. The homeowner dismissed the steam humidifier. Upon looking at the set up of the Payne furnace I found that the system was installed poorly. The fresh air intake is pulling air from the crawl space and not outside. The circulator discharge tube is approximately 50-75 feet long, runs through an unconditioned crawl space then drains outside. Due to the unconditioned crawl space and the system draining outside there is potential for freezing. It is not recommended to install a humidifier with the system draining the way it is currently draining

Performed preventative maintenance on a Weil McLain high efficiency boiler. Upon arrival I watched system cycle on with a call for heat. I took a combustion analysis test and got the following: O2 was 3.5% and O2 was 14ppm. I checked water pressure and temperature on gauge which read 10 psi and 160°F. Limit is set for 180°F. Checked and cleaned condensate trap tubing to ensure no clogs or leaks. I checked all electrical components to ensure the connections are good and tight. Took an amp draw on inducer motor and it is in good range. Checked condensate pump for proper operation. I watched system cycle off when temperature was reached. Returned thermostat to homeowners desired temperature. System is working properly at this time. Model # GV90+4 Serial # is covered by outlet.

Came out today to look at a tankless water heater. Upon arrival I found the noritz tankless water heater not operating. The control says it is 140° however the water starts hot then gets cold quickly. There is a combustion issue possibly need a new igniter and flame sensor. The system is currently 12 years old . Could not find a model or serial # all writing is in Chinese. The only thing readable is the manufacture date. The system is out of warranty. With the age and condition of the system I highly recommended replacing the system. I will have chud’s comfort advisor reach out to the owners to discuss possible hot water heater areas.

Upon arrival I powered the system down and removed the access panels. I removed the blower assembly and disassembled it. I installed the new blower wheel and put the assembly back together. I re installed the blower assembly and powered the system back up. The furnace fired up right away and the blower is no longer making any noises. The system is operating properly at this time.

Came out today to inspect a Goodman furnace that chud installed on 11/28/22. Upon arrival the system was calling for heat. It was set for 82 and it was 64 in the home . I inspected the furnace and had an error code EE6. This is a error code for the flame sensor. I reset the furnace and called for heat again. I observed the system light then go out. The flame sensor was just out of reach. I was able to bend it back into position and tested the system again. The system started without any issues and I observed as the temp in the home went up 5°. The system is operating properly at this time. No charge per dispatch.

Customer called for no heat. Upon inspection I found the flue damper motor failed. Put damper in manual mode for now so that the customer has heat until we can repair it. Boiler is operating at this time but will need new damper motor as well as wire harness. See attached estimate for repair quote. Customer would like to follow through with the repair. Collected for diagnosis of problem today. Office will call when parts are in and ready to be installed.<br> Manufacturer Weil McLain Model #CG 5 SPDN Serial #CP3684246

Came out today for a nordyne system that was making a loud banging and grinding noise. The homeowner recorded the system making the noise. Once the homeowner played the video I could tell by the sound that there is an issue with the blower motor. I powered the system down and removed the access panels. I pulled the blower out and found that the squirrel cage had come loose and was hitting the side of the housing. I was able to readjust the squirrel cage to get the homeowner heat for the time being. The squirrel cage is bent and should be replaced due to it being bent from hitting the side of the housing. Gibson/nordyne model #KG7SA108C-35C1, serial #KGG150444890. No charge call back.

Customer called for no heat. Upon inspection I found now power at the furnace. I started the trace back why there’s no power. Found the condensate pump filled to the top with the pump no longer working. Gave customer a price for a new pump and she agreed for the repair. Installed new pump and tested the system. System is operating properly at this time. Manufacturer Lennox Model #G61MPV-36B-071-12 Serial #5910H19942

Customer stated that the system, for the addition was not working properly. Upon inspection, I found that the filter was very dirty just under 30 days old and the system was going off on high limit switch. This was error code EE3. I then adjusted the blower speed to send more airflow through to keep the temperature within range. also replaced the air filter since the system was just installed last month. Customer had FWI duct cleanings today which could have added to the buildup on the filter since the addition duct work was heavily blocked with dirt. System is operating properly at this time. The system is operating properly at this time.

This location has access to 3 split systems. I was only able to gain access to 1 indoor unit and 3 outdoor units. I was unable to gain access to the rooftop to verify if the unit conditions this location. Customer has 3 thermostats. The filter size for the one unit is 20x22x1. The returns for the air handlers appear to be pulling from above the drop ceiling. I will enter gathered information and pictures. Will need to return at a time when we can get access to rooftop and additional air handlers. Please verify access before sending out technician. BILLOUT
